Itís a Greek notion which has something to do with overconfidence, foolish pride. It used to be severely punished by the gods.

Iím an atheist and not supertitious. Yet, sometimes, I have the feeling that some kind of an entity monitors my deeds and takes pleasure in punishing me whenever I feel like being a bit boastful.

I believe Iím entitled to be pleased with myself when the object of my satisfaction is the result of honest, hard work. Donít you think?

Anyway, I endeavour to maintain a balance. It ainít easy.

As for the entity I was referring to, if I could talk to it face to face, Iíd say: ďHavenít you got anything better to do? Honestly!Ē
